QUESTION MARKS

qm750x400

Question marks is a four piece hailin from Bologna, italy. The band started in 1997 when in the dense fogs of Bologna’s hinterland Luca and Alessandro begun to play togheter. After their first demo (“di giorno”), a raw mix of punk rock, ska, and an insane passion for non sense instrumental songs, south italy’s refugees Marcello (guitar) and Daniele (bass) join the army, and the band begins to develop their own style, a fast melodic hardcore with italian lyrics. Soon daniele leaves the band, replaced by Andrea, with these lineup the band releases the first cd “lontani dal mondo”.The album is well received by critics and the kids, and the band starts to play almost everywhere in Italy. Soon after they gained a satisfying popularity in their country the band decides to start writing songs in english trying to gain a wider audience in the european community, and the result are the five songs of the split cd with belgium’s FIVE DAYS OFF, containing a blazing cover of Ah-Ah’s “take on me”. Soon they start on they first european tour, rocking down squats, clubs and gentle people dining rooms, playing with the likes of SNUFF, TEN FOOT POLE, BLINK 182, VENEREA, LAST DAYS OF APRIL, UNDECLINABLE, QUIT YOUR DAYJOB, SHANDON, RAW POWER, VANILLA SKY and like any respected band on earth, they succeed to break down their van’s engine while driving to Slovenia at -10°C… After a year of hiuatus to achieve personal goals, with band members leaving Bologna for working and study issues, and being punk rock and social manners overhung by the “ililkemysisterspants “screamo trend the band is on a crossroad, deciding to quit or continue and try to be honest to their greatest passion; some of you may say it was good some may say not, anyway, they decide not to give it up and they startsbuilding their own recording studio in Luca’s basement, soon renamed the “infamous dust and matresses studio” (you can easily understand why…). After some troubles to familiarize with the new equipment they record in 5 months their best efffort to date, LATE NIGHT RESPONSE a solid, highly energetic and metallic album but still true to Question Marks melodic punk rock origins. Well received by labels, the album is actually released in Japan by INYAFACE Records CR JAPAN, and in Europe trough INDELIRIUM Records, home of the best italian hardcore bands.
